About Abrasive Specialties Inc

Abrasive Specialties was created to meet the growing demand for specialty abrasives and pneumatic tools used in manufacturing and various other industries. With countless projects requiring new and innovative solutions, the need for a company dedicated to expertise in this specific area was clear, and Abrasive Specialties has been meeting that need ever since.

Originally started in 1965 by industrial salesman John Shives, Abrasive Specialties was sold in 1977 to Bill Victor, a University of Cincinnati student with experience in distribution and metal finishing. The company continued to grow with Victor cultivating new business while providing valuable service to existing customers. In 1979, the business moved from a rented space in Sharonville to a newly renovated building in Blue Ash.

In 1983, Abrasive Specialties was sold to Phil Dickinson, an experienced salesman who had been looking for the right opportunity to purchase a small business. A year later, Phil welcomed his wife Holly to the company and Abrasive Specialties became a family venture.

Over the years, the Dickinsons further advanced the company by consistently working to maintain and increase the customer base as well as expanding the product selections in order to satisfy the industries' ever changing needs. In 1985 Abrasive Specialties moved to Fairfax, where it remained until expanding to its current location near Lunken Airport in December 2006.

In 1998, longtime family friend Jon Warnken joined the team. In 2003, the company expanded further when Phil and Holly's daughter Erin and son-in-law Tony came onboard. With each team member bringing various backgrounds including: engineering, marketing, and business, they have been invaluable assets. Together the group strives daily to help Abrasive Specialties continually evolve and expand its capabilities.

At Abrasive Specialties, it is our goal to utilize both experience and comprehensive product knowledge to provide time and money saving applications to solve the individual issues our customers encounter. We strive to continuously improve the efficiency of each customer.
